ADVANCING THE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS OF PROFESSIONAL FIREARMS INSTRUCTORS

This course is based on the NLEFIA 3-day Advanced Firearms Instructor Certification Course which has been taught across the country since 2015 and has received raving reviews.

This is our opportunity for the LE instructor community to pass on "lessons learned" to the civilian instructor community and help them improve the training they provide to law-abiding citizens...

Civilian Firearms Instructor: Advanced Training Course

$500

This 2-day / 16-hour advanced training course is designed for firearms instructor who have obtained a 16-hour civilian pistol instructor certification from a reputable organization such as the NRA, USCCA, SAF, etc.  This course will cover the critical information that is not covered in initial instructor certification courses, will challenge firearms instructors to take a critical look at traditional training philosophies and methodologies, and will take firearms instructors to the next level of instruction and presentation to enhance their training programs. This course will show instructors how to pushes their student’s skills to the next level and also how to maximizes their training time and ammunition allotment. The concepts taught in this course apply to ALL weapon disciplines for creating better training.

NOTE: Attendees must bring a copy of their 16-hour civilian pistol instructor certificate from a reputable organization such as the NRA, USCCA, SAF, etc.

Course Topics: 

  • A critical look at the fundamentals of marksmanship
  • Firearms safety rules vs. Range safety rules
  • Performance-based training vs. Outcome-based training
  • Proper target selection to enhance training
  • Defining "advanced" firearms training
  • Line drills vs. Solo drills vs. Team drills
  • Conducting a student assessment
  • Instructor positioning
  • Coaching & debriefing student performance
  • Getting students to "self discover" mistakes and solutions

Required Equipment: 

  • Quality pistol and three magazines
  • Belt holster & mag pouches (no concealment holsters)
  • 500 rounds of pistol ammo
  • Eye & ear protection
  • Hat with a brim
  • Knee & elbow pads
  • Black marker
  • Weather-related gear
  • Hydration fluids & snacks

Hosting Requirements: 

  • Classroom with projector and white screen
  • A 25-yard range with portable target frames for each student
  • At least four (4) portable cover stands to shoot around. Ideally, stable enough to shoot braced.
  • 10-15 traffic / sport cones cones
