This "instructor update" course is a 1-day / 8-hour "add-on" course to pair with one of our other courses for a 2-day or 3-day training event. This course is designed to show shotgun instructors the latest in shooting techniques and training methodology.  A variety of ideas and philosophies will be discussed and explored among peers.

Topics include:

  • Weapon presentation / shooting platform
  • Buckshot patterning
  • Reloads
  • Malfunctions
  • Conventional / unconventional shooting positions
  • Shooting from cover
  • Bi-lateral shooting
  • Injured person techniques
  • Multiple target engagements
  • Shooting on the move
  • And more...

Student Required Equipment:

  • Pump action or semi-automatic shotgun with tactical sling and weapon mounted light
  • Duty pistol with 3 magazines
  • Duty or belt holster (OWB only)
  • 100 rounds of rifled slug
  • 100 rounds of birdshot
  • 10 rounds of duty buckshot
  • 100 rounds of handgun ammunition
  • Hearing and eye protection
  • Hat with a brim
  • Weather appropriate gear
  • Snacks and hydration fluids

Hosting Requirements:

  • Classroom (for 16-20 people) with projector and screen or monitor
  • A 25-50 yard range / 10 lanes wide minimum
  • At least eight (8) portable target stands
  • Traffic / sport cones (8-10)
  • Four (4) portable cover stands
  • Steel targets (optional)
