Revolver Instructor Development

This 3-day / 24-hour instructor development course is designed to give pistol instructors the technical information, shooting techniques, and training methodology for training others in the use of revolvers.  Upon successful completion of this course, instructor will be qualified to conduct daytime and nighttime revolver training and to conduct revolver qualifications.

Pre-requisite: Candidates must have a LE pistol instructor certification from a reputable organization to attend.

  • Weapon presentation
  • Reloads
  • Malfunctions
  • Conventional / unconventional shooting positions
  • Shooting from cover
  • One-handed shooting / injured officer
  • Multiple target engagements
  • Shooting on the move

Student Required Equipment:

  • Service revolver, .38 Special or larger, with 3”-5” barrel (S&W, Ruger, Colt)
  • Duty or belt holster (OWB only)
  • Speed loaders (3 minimum)…no moon clips or speed strips
  • Speed loader pouch
  • 600 rounds of ammunition
  • Hearing and eye protection
  • Hat with a brim
  • Black marker
  • Weather appropriate gear
  • Snacks and hydration fluids

Hosting Requirements:

  • Classroom (for 16-20 people) with projector and screen or monitor
  • A 25 yard range, 10 lanes wide minimum
  • At least eight (8) portable target stands
  • Traffic / sport cones (8-10)
  • Steel targets (optional)
